C/ Gerona s/n: the police brigade for foreigners
At C/ Gerona s/n, 47013 Valladolid, the Policía Nacional keeps its foreigners’ brigade for the province, formally the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras (s/n, sin número, means the address has no street number). Phone 983 456 553, fax 983 456 551; policia.es publishes no opening hours. Its entry lists these procedures, given here in its own words and order, with our translation:
- Autorizaciones de regreso: return authorisations
- Cartas de invitación: letters of invitation for visitors
- Certificados y asignación de NIE: certificates of an existing NIE, and new numbers
- Estudiantes: students
- Expedición TIE: issuing the TIE card
- Informes de nacionalidad: nationality reports
- Prórrogas de estancia: extensions of stay
- Régimen comunitario: EU citizens and their families
- Residencias no lucrativas: non-lucrative residence
- Solicitudes de asilo y refugio: asylum and refugee applications
- Títulos de viaje y cédulas de inscripción: papers for travel and identity when no passport can be obtained
Calle Arzobispo José Delicado 7: the Oficina de Extranjería
Sede 1 of the Oficina de Extranjería en Valladolid belongs to the Delegación del Gobierno en Castilla y León. Address: Calle Arzobispo José Delicado 7, 47014. Phone 983 999 222; email oficinaextranjeros.valladolid@correo.gob.es. Its page gives the hours as weekdays, 9:00–14:00, says a cita previa is required, and adds that one is essential to file an application. Its list, summarised:
- Residence and work as an employee or self-employed, research and cross-border service provision, with their renewals; work by residents and exceptions to the work authorisation
- Non-lucrative residence, and its renewal
- Family reunification (reagrupación familiar)
- Arraigo and other exceptional circumstances
- Long-term residence, and EU long-term residence
- Stays for studies, student mobility, unpaid internships or volunteering, and the work authorisation of students
- Return authorisation (autorización de regreso)
- Cards for non-EU family members of Europeans
- Changes of situation, minors, expulsions and appeals
What the Oficina sends elsewhere, and what it offers online
Under the heading of procedures done at other offices, meaning police units, the same page names among others the extension of a short stay, travel documents and registration cards, the certificate of EU residents, asylum, the TIE and the NIE.
It also links to what can be done from home: following a file’s progress, filing stays for studies and their extensions on Mercurio, filing renewals, adding documents to a file and paying fees online. Written questions go through an online enquiry form, the Buzón de consultas.
Next door, at number 8, is a municipal service rather than a State one: the Ayuntamiento’s Centro de Atención al Inmigrante (CAI), 983 344 343, cai@ava.es. Our guide to the padrón says more about it.
Where the two lists meet
Return authorisations appear on both lists. Student matters do too, in different words: the police list students and extensions of stay, the Oficina lists stays for studies. For those, book the procedure through the cita previa for Valladolid and go where the confirmation sends you. The card for a European’s relative takes you to both offices in turn: the Oficina de Extranjería lists the card itself, and the police then take fingerprints for the TIE.
Other police entries, and Medina del Campo
The police’s general list of stations puts the Comisaría de Valladolid Delicias at the same address and map point, with its own switchboard; that entry lists no foreigners’ procedures, so for your papers, book the brigade’s procedures, not the station. For that station, the general list notes step-free access, video interpreting in sign language and hearing loops. The Ayuntamiento’s padrón page, for its part, calls the brigade “Registro Central de Extranjeros (C/ Gerona)”.
policia.es lists one other unit for foreigners in the province: the Comisaría de Medina del Campo, C/ Valladolid 30-32, 47400 Medina del Campo (983 812 645). Its list is short: letters of invitation, TIE issue and nationality reports. It lists neither NIE assignment nor the registration of Europeans (only C/ Gerona does), and it gives no hours. No other town, Laguna de Duero and Arroyo de la Encomienda included, has a unit on the foreigners’ list. Whether the booking system offers Medina del Campo for your procedure, only the booking screen can tell you.
Finding both doors
We found no official page with directions to C/ Gerona by bus, and the address has no number to guide you. Find it on a map beforehand and give yourself a few extra minutes to locate the door.
For Arzobispo José Delicado 7, the Delegación del Gobierno lists the bus stops and taxi rank below, as it writes them. The municipal bus company’s own stop data does not match every line on that list, so check the current lines before you set off.
