The lock-keeper

What We Do, and What We Leave to the State

NIE Valladolid helps people settling in Valladolid and its province, as an independent private service. With you, we prepare your NIE, a green certificate or a TIE, and the padrón, one level at a time.

People come to Valladolid for a place at the university or a Spanish course, a post in a school, a contract with a firm in or around the city, a relative who already lives here, or simply a calmer life in a well-connected city. The procedures they face are national; the addresses, the bookings and the order of the steps are local.

Our work is preparation: identifying the procedure and the office that apply to you, completing the forms side by side with you, looking for a cita previa, and checking the papers before the day. When a question turns on tax, an inheritance or the finer points of immigration law, we point you to a lawyer or an adviser.

NIE Valladolid has no link with the Policía Nacional, with the Delegación del Gobierno en Castilla y León and its Oficina de Extranjería, with the Junta de Castilla y León or with the Ayuntamiento de Valladolid. Every step described here can be taken straight to them, in which case you pay nothing beyond the official fees.

Lock 40 of the Canal de Castilla at Corcos, in the province of Valladolid, on a grey winter day: water from the upper reach pours over and through the closed gate at the far end into a deep chamber of weathered limestone blocks and churns white as it runs toward the viewer, while beyond the gate's iron footbridge the canal continues straight between reeds and bare trees, flanked by an old stone building and a red-brick house

Who comes through the lock

Our part of the work

How we work

  • Your lock, not the whole canal

We start from your passport and your plans, so the list you receive holds your steps and nobody else’s.

  • Two streets, told apart

In Valladolid the police on Calle Gerona and the Oficina de Extranjería on Arzobispo José Delicado do different work. Before you book, we tell you which one your procedure belongs to.

  • Spanish words, explained once and clearly

Forms are completed in Spanish, as the counters expect. We put every Spanish term into English when it first appears, and prepare you for the words you may hear on the day.

  • Plain about our place

This is private help. Decisions belong to the police, to the Delegación del Gobierno and to each ayuntamiento; preparation is ours. Anything we do with you, you could also do alone, paying only the official fees.

Further along the towpath

Two firms for the stretches we do not cover

This site prepares the forms and the appointments of a move to Valladolid. When you need more help, or less travel, two independent firms can take on part of it: AnchorLess for a whole relocation, Gestoraz for a NIE requested from a distance. Both are private companies, as we are, and neither works for the State.
